The choice describing organizing a coalition to meet with council members and provide testimony is the strongest advocacy strategy because it directly targets the decision makers before the vote, mobilizes stakeholders, and uses formal channels (meetings and public testimony) to influence policy. A public rally can be helpful for visibility but is typically less direct and less targeted than organized contact and testimony with the council. Sharing information without organizing action is unlikely to change the outcome. Providing individual support may help coping but does not address the proposed policy change.

Psychodynamic theory emphasizes that emotional symptoms often arise from unconscious, unresolved internal tensions, such as competing wishes, fears, and defenses developed in response to earlier experiences. This is captured by the choice mentioning “intrapsychic conflict.” While environmental stressors can worsen symptoms, and genetic predisposition may influence vulnerability, these are not typically described as the primary cause of distress within a psychodynamic formulation. Dietary habits are not a central explanatory focus of psychodynamic theory.

The description emphasizes guiding the group process (setting norms, encouraging participation, summarizing discussion) and helping members work collaboratively to clarify issues and develop strategies. This is the core function of a facilitator in group work. A case manager primarily assesses needs and coordinates services and referrals for individuals rather than managing the group’s interaction and discussion process. A public relations specialist focuses on an organization’s image and external messaging, not group problem-solving. A community organizer mobilizes community members and resources to address broader community issues, which is different from facilitating an interpersonal support meeting.
